The Oak Grove Chapel is a beautiful, historic building. The chapel is the original Friends of the River Meeting House, dating back to 1786, and may have played a part in the Underground Railroad. The only building left from the Oak Grove-Coburn and Oak Grove School campus, the Chapel sat empty and unused for decades, but is now under the care of the foundation. To bring it back to life for weddings, concerts, art exhibits, reunions, and other events, basic infrastructure of bathrooms, a kitchen and handicapped accessibility were needed.
To safeguard the Chapel’s historic integrity and original aesthetics, a multi-use cottage including two accessible bathrooms, a kitchenette, a gathering space, and a small rental apartment was constructed following a generous donation from a member of the OGC community. The cottage was dedicated in July of 2025.
With a goal of $30,000, this new fundraiser will contribute to the restoration and upkeep of the chapel. Please support this exciting project and make a tax-deductible donation for an engraved brick! Engraved bricks will be used to complete the path leading from the chapel to the caretaker’s cottage, as well as additional landscaping projects on the property.
Honor a graduating class, teacher, classmate, school team, or any person or event associated with the school. You can, of course, also buy a brick inscribed with your name (and class year) to signify that you were part of the OGC community.
New to this fundraiser will be the ability to add clipart and the addition of 8×8 bricks. The single bricks are just $135 for a 4×8 brick and $195 for a 8×8 brick.
Also new to this fundraiser is volume pricing:
2 – 4×8 bricks $250
3 – 4X8 bricks $350
2 – 8×8 bricks $350
3 – 8×8 bricks $500
There is no limit to the number of bricks you can purchase.
Please note that all messages on the bricks must commemorate or honor members of the Oak Grove School / OGC community or Oak Grove Chapel in some way. Please, no commercial or political messages. OGSF reserves the exclusive right to decide which messages are consistent with the purpose of this project
