For 130 years, Brocton’s volunteer firefighters have answered the call. The Brocton Fire Department First Responders’ Memorial Park is being created to honor and remember the dedicated men and women who have served – and continue to serve – our community as firefighters and emergency medical responders.

For generations, Brocton’s volunteer firefighters have answered calls in the middle of the night, responded to fires, medical emergencies, accidents, severe weather, and countless other situations where their neighbors needed help. The department continues to be an important part of the community, responding to both fire and EMS calls and relying on the commitment of local volunteers.

The memorial park will provide a permanent place of honor, reflection, and remembrance for these individuals. At the heart of the park will be a prominent monument recognizing the service and sacrifice of our first responders. A brick walkway surrounding the monument will allow families, friends, businesses, organizations, and community members to purchase personalized memorial bricks in honor or memory of loved ones and those who have served.

The park will serve several important purposes:
• Honor those who have served our community as firefighters and first responders.
• Remember those who have passed away, preserving their names and contributions for future generations.
• Recognize the sacrifices of volunteers and their families, who give countless hours in service to others.
• Create a lasting community landmark where residents can pause, reflect, and pay tribute.
• Educate future generations about the important tradition of volunteer service in Brocton and Portland.
• Strengthen community pride by celebrating the people who have helped keep our community safe.

The park is ultimately about people, service, sacrifice, and community. It will stand as a reminder that when a neighbor calls for help, there have always been people willing to answer.
The brick fundraising campaign also gives the entire community an opportunity to become a permanent part of the memorial. Each brick will help build the walkway surrounding the monument while creating an enduring tribute that families and generations to come can visit.

The First Responders’ Memorial Park will be a place where the past is honored, the present is recognized, and the tradition of service is carried forward into the future.
